FRIPON extension over northern Europe

Wednesday 16 August 2017

First bolide detected over Benelux.
Thanks to the new camera installed at the Royal Observatory of Uccle (Brussels) it is now possible to connect the detected meteors with the ESTEC camera in Noordwijk (Netherlands) to the entire FRIPON network. A first meteor was detected the night of August 15, 2017 at 10:25 pm UTC in Brussels and Noordwijk. An extension of the FRIPON network is underway in northern Europe, led by the Belgian Institute for Space Aeronomy (Brussels) for Belgium, ESTEC (ESA - Noordwijk) for the Netherlands and Oldenburg university for Northern Germany.
